Monika’s Unlimited Dance Studio 2014
I think this is my favourite image from the day.
The dancers produced not just amazing poses and held positions, but great jumping shots.
These are partners for a piece entitled “Say Something” – the stories they’re telling in their poses are fantastic.
This is Wanda’s absolute favourite from the shoot. Her power, her face, her pose and the angles, right down to her hair. Fantastic stuff.
The crew for the day. Professional dancers all.* Huge thanks to Stefan for shooting with us, for Fi for helping wrangle students, and to Monika for everything!
* Not all of us are professional dancers. Hard to believe.
Aleks and Matt
Aleksandra and Matthew are the most gorgeous Polish couple. They are both strong, independent and passionate and it showed in every aspect of the day. The most important thing was that there was so much love. It was in their eyes, their words, their amazing ceremony of which I didn’t understand a word of! Even though I didn’t know the language, I understood the love. There was no need for translation as I could see the emotion and love pass between them every minute.
This is one of my favourite shots of Aleks. There’s just something about her face that makes you want to keep looking, you can see there’s a tiny hint of the goddess within, look in those eyes and you can see the glimpse of that cheeky gorgeous bride.
One day we’ll have to show you a behind the scenes of how something like this is captured, but for now lets just say Kris was balancing very well!
Matt is a perfect serious guy, very poised and reserved, but once in a while we would see the funny guy as well. He also has an amazing smile but that serious look, woah, those eyes!
I’m extremely proud of this shot. Kris was outside doing the family and group shots on the stairs and I waited inside just sitting down on the pulpit stairs so I wouldn’t be in any shots. While sitting there I could see the church pews and aisle lined up and the silhouette of the bride and groom in the doorway. I waited patiently until I could get my shot and here it is.
This is in front of the Polish church, which in itself was so beautiful I could have photographed the church all day! But I adore this photo, the veil looks just like angel wings.
So completely stunning, both of them were just great at giving us gorgeous moments.
Aleks and Matt both loved the urban city look so we headed into the city to capture more of the glass and steel. Kris took them up on a walkway over the road to get some great city shots and while I was down below I could see some shots of my own I wanted to try. Again, we will so have to show the behind the scenes. For this I’m lying in the road taking photos with people walking past me saying “What on earth is she doing?” “Is she ok?”. Yes I’m ok and as our clients can attest, I will go where I need to get the shot. Lying in the road, wading into thigh deep freezing water, laying down in wet grass and leeches and balancing in awkward places. Go hard or go home, right?
